THE TOP COAT: Nusrat of @iiroshnii

Today we're talking to Nusrat of @iiroshnii! Nusrat has been featured in/on Cosmopolitan, Laneige, Soko Glam, Macy's, Mamonde, Krave, The Chill Times, The Tease, Becca Cosmetics, and Glamour. If that isn't enough (and yes, there's more), she's also a regular model with Cirque Colors! "Hi! My name is Nusrat, aka @iiroshnii. I am a NYC based beauty junkie who also loves to take pictures of pretty things. When I am not doing my 10 step skincare routine, you can find me eating ramen, cooking, binging on K-drama, or painting my nails. I love color and that's where most of my inspiration comes from. I love painting my nails with colorful polishes because it puts me in a good mood and keeps me inspired." When did you start blogging? I started blogging on November 15, 2017 after a mini hiatus from social media. I remember the exact date because in that moment I decided to turn my life around and work on my mental health. Having a creative outlet was always important to me and during my social media break (which lasted for 2 years) I deprived myself of everything that made me happy. So I decided to pick self up slowly and to opened up a new Instagram account featuring things that made me happy. How did you get into it? Growing up I had a toxic relationship with my skin color and I wasn’t happy being in my own skin. There was a period of time I used skin lightening creams recommended by relatives which ruined my skin barrier. My skincare journey started when I realized that I was beautiful in the skin that I am in. I started researching about skincare ingredients and that's when I stumbled upon blogs that focused on skincare. After reading them for years and experimenting on my own, I finally decided to document it and found an amazing community on Instagram. What’s your favorite kind of content to create? I love to be in the moment so when inspiration strikes I can shoot for hours. I love working with colors and having creative freedom. My favorites shots are always unplanned, colorful, and full of sunshine. Where do you get inspiration from? I am inspired by colors and lighting. I take inspiration from my surrounding and how I feel at the moment affects my creativity. A sunny day full of sunshine is my favorite day to shoot. How did you get into modeling? It kind of happened unexpectedly. I used to help my friends shoot when I was in high school and college but never thought that I would get the opportunity to work with so many amazing brands. At first I did unpaid shoots for friends if the model dropped out last minute and they needed some help. As I gained more experience, more brands started to reach out. I am not a professional model and I am not signed with an agency at the moment, but I really enjoy it because there aren’t many South Asian representation in the beauty community, let alone any Bengali. Favorite Cirque Colors Polishes?Emerald, Very Valentino, Ghost Rose, Robin, and A Fiori. But my favorite collection is Still Life. Any questions you want answered?
